Faculty of Education Conducts its Annual Orientation Programme

The Faculty of Education has conducted its annual student orientation programme aimed at integrating knowledge and guidelines that would help them in developing their abilities, attitudes and other form of behavior, which are of immense value throughout their stay in the University. The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Ali Tijjani Abdullahi, in his welcome address said that the Faculty of Education was established in 1975 with two departments but has now grew up to six departments. Professor Abdullahi stated that about 74,000 candidates applied to Bayero in the last admission exercise out of which only 9,040 were given admission with 2012 of the total going into the Faculty of Education. In his brief remarks, the Director of Sports, Professor Rabiu Mohammed, urged students to participate in sporting activities in order to develop their bodies mentally and physically as well as utilize the facilities provided by the management of the University. He commended the performance of the Faculty of Education in the just concluded inter-faculty competition by winning 8 trophies. He urged the Dean to commend the players that participated in the competition. Also speaking, Professor Aliyu Dauda said that the importance of student-teacher relationship in the academic arena was vital, saying a University system was like a factory that produced intellectual individuals that may go out and serve the community in different capacities.
